The legislative process was in high gear last Monday as RIANA members visited the Rhode Island State House to witness S2878 move out of committee on its way to the senate floor for voting.
S2878 is a bill that would prevent insurance providers, HMOs or other third party payors from paying different rates to equally qualified healthcare professionals. This non-discrimination bill, already represented in the affordable care act and recently challenged on the federal level, would level the playing field and increase competition in the healthcare marketplace. As we all know, competition is good for the marketplace and great for the consumer! In coming days the bill will be sent to the Senate Floor for voting. We will keep you posted as it progresses through the process. Feel free to contact your State Senators and voice your support for S2878!
